NATALEE HOLLOWAY IS A GRADUATING HONOR STUDENT AT MOUNTAIN BROOK HIGH SCHOOL IN BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA WHO WAS PARTICIPATING IN A SENIOR TRIP WITH CLASSMATES ON THE CARIBBEAN ISLAND OF ARUBA WHEN SHE DISAPPEARED. SHE WAS LAST SEEN MONDAY, MAY 30, 2005 AT APPROXIMATELY 0130 HOURS LEAVING CARLOS 'N' CHARLIE'S NIGHTCLUB IN THE TOWN OF ORANJESTAD. AFTER MISSING HER RETURN FLIGHT HOME, NATALEE'S PASSPORT AND LUGGAGE WERE DISCOVERED STILL IN HER HOTEL ROOM. FOUL PLAY IS SUSPECTED.

A message from the Dutch Ambassador - June 30, 2005
On May 30th we were all shocked when a young American high-school graduate disappeared while vacationing on the island of Aruba. Since then, the Aruban and Netherlands authorities, in close cooperation with United States officials and the citizens of Aruba, are conducting an intense search and a full investigation into the disappearance of Natalee Holloway. Much to the dismay of everyone, there has been no sign of her thus far and the pain grows deeper with every passing day. On behalf of the people of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, I want to express my sympathy and support to the family and friends, and to all who are committing their time and efforts to finding Natalee. The investigation is being conducted according to the rule of law. The legal system of Aruba is identical to that of the Netherlands, which receives the highest marks from the United States Department of State. It differs from the US system but it is as effective. Of course, we are all working closely together. The Royal Netherlands Marines, the Joint Dutch Aruban Investigation Team, the Netherlands Forensic Institute, the Coast Guard for the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba and Dutch legal experts are assisting the local authorities in Aruba together with US authorities, including the Department of State and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). I fully understand and appreciate the feelings of the many Americans who have expressed their legitimate concerns to my Embassy. As the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, I want to reassure the American people that everything is being done to resolve this tragic case. We are standing together in our efforts and our hope.
After six years since Natalee Holloway's disappearance, Natalee has been officially declaired deceased by her parents.
